Our Story

Hello there!  I’m Lacey, the founder of Rambler and mom to two spirited boys.  Our journey began a couple years ago when my oldest was 5 months old.  Like many new moms, I had purchased various blankets and activity mats to spread on the floor for my son to play on.  However, no matter what I laid out, within minutes, it had either bunched underneath him or he had wiggled around and was rolled up like a burrito.  The constant chore of untangling him and his daily frustration inspired me to create Rambler.  Our first prototype was simple but effective and the result was a soft place for my son to play that STAYED completely flat. No matter how much he moved or tugged, it kept its shape!  We used it constantly - around the house, in the backyard, at the beach, even in hotel rooms.  It didn’t stop there, it grew with us from the newborn stage into the toddler days and we found ourselves using it even without the kids!  We loved it and wanted to share it with others.

In 2018 Rambler officially came to life.  We are a small, but mighty team effort, with my brother Nick partnering in product development and my college roommate Megan in marketing support.  We have tirelessly sourced materials and manufacturing over the last two years and  created a beautiful product for you to enjoy.  Our soft, fabric cover is supported by an innovative hoop which causes it to keep its shape. The cover itself is completely removable and machine washable (yay!) and when playtime is over, the mat easily collapses and slides back into its lightweight carry bag.

We are excited and proud to provide a unique product and a place to rest your busy life.  Won't you come Ramble with us?

OUR NAME

RAMBLE (n.): a walk for pleasure, mostly without a route or destination in mind.

For the first two years of our marriage, my husband and I had the amazing opportunity to live in London.  One of our favorite things to do on the weekends was “ramble” in the countryside, as the English call it.  We loved taking an easy train ride from the city into the country to enjoy wide open spaces, fresh air, and spectacular scenery.  It was a time to slow down, connect and just enjoy life.  We believe that maintaining this mindset for adults and kids alike is so important in today's world.  Our hope is for your Rambler to be more than a product, but an inviting place to rest in your busy life.  Whether drawing you outdoors or sharing a moment with your child, we hope it becomes a place to make a memory.
